Guided tour “Dairy Products and Traditional Recipes”

Immerse yourself in the heart of the 19th-century Moselle Valley and discover the history of dairy processing in the countryside. This guided tour takes you back to the old traditions of dairy farming and sheds light on rural organization, livestock breeding, and the dietary habits of the time.

 

How were butter and cheese made and consumed? What tools and know-how were used? Through emblematic objects such as stoneware milk jugs, butter churns, and cream jars, as well as the discovery of traditional Luxembourgish recipes, you will explore an essential aspect of the rural life and economy in the Moselle region.

 

This historical journey also highlights the evolution of dairy processing techniques – from improved livestock breeding and grazing lands to the gradual professionalization of production in the 20th century.
