A new museum concept

The aim of the new museum concept is to take a modern look at the life of yesteryear. In addition to providing an insight of everyday life in the Moselle region in the 19th and early 20th centuries, this approach is used to encourage visitors to contemplate about present, past, and future. Environmental questions, the history of daily life, the place of crafts in our societies and the notion of migration are all themes that the museum uses to draw links between past, present, and future.

The Museum’s new museography proposes multiple levels of reading to make the museum accessible to a wider audience, and putting the visitor at the centre of the museum experience. Featuring a permanent as well as temporary exhibition, the Museum will be complemented by a co-creative space where craftsmen and artists will be able to practices their artistry. The intergenerational workshops are part of this concept, with an approach that is both educational and inclusive.
